"Come See the Hydrangea Clusters"... Osan Mulhyanggi Arboretum Creates Hydrangea-Themed Garden

Osan Mulhyanggi Arboretum in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, has established a hydrangea-themed garden.

On July 4, Mulhyanggi Arboretum announced that it has created a hydrangea-themed garden covering an area of 430 square meters (130 pyeong), where visitors can enjoy clusters of hydrangeas with richer and more vivid colors than in previous years.

The color of hydrangea flowers changes depending on the acidity of the soil, allowing one to check the soil's pH. In soil with a pH of 6.0 to 6.5, the flowers appear pink, while in more acidic soil with a pH of around 4.5, they turn blue. As the soil shifts from acidic to neutral, the flower colors change to purple, magenta, light magenta, and pink, making it possible to see a variety of shades even within a single area.

Kim Ilgon, Director of the Gyeonggi Provincial Forest Environment Research Institute, said, "Hydrangeas are a special flower that can only be seen in summer, and now is the most beautiful time to visit and take photos. I hope visitors will enjoy a leisurely walk and a healing time among the flowers in the arboretum, an ecological space in the city."

Meanwhile, since its opening in Sucheong-dong, Osan in 2006, Mulhyanggi Arboretum has attracted 350,000 visitors annually. It is a representative arboretum of Gyeonggi Province, featuring 25 themed gardens and more than 2,000 species on display. It is about a 10-minute walk from Osandae Station on Subway Line 1. Admission has been free since July 1.
