Iksan City to Host "National Athletics Competition" from 6th to 10th

Over 1,600 Athletes from Across the Country to Participate

Iksan City in North Jeolla Province announced on the 4th that it will host the "Baekje Capital Iksan 2025 National Athletics Competition" at the main stadium of Iksan Sports Complex from the 6th to the 10th.

According to the city, this nationwide competition is organized by the Korea Association of Athletics Federations and hosted by the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Athletics Federation. More than 1,600 athletes from across the country will participate, competing in various events in the middle school, high school, university, and general divisions.


In particular, strong performances are expected from the Iksan City Hall athletics team. In the middle-distance events, Lee Woomin, Cho Hyunwook, Kim Gakyung, and Oh Hyewon will compete, along with Lee Sungbin in shot put, Jang Youngmin and Kim Taehui in hammer throw, and Kim Minji in javelin throw.


Additionally, at 1:50 p.m. on the 8th during the competition, an award ceremony will be held for athletes who set new Korean records. The honorees will include Kim Taehui (Iksan City Hall), who broke a national record last month, as well as Lee Jaewoong and Kim Jangwoo (Korea Armed Forces Athletic Corps), and their coaches.


A city official said, "We expect this national competition to further enhance the skills of local athletes and serve as an opportunity to expand the base of athletics in Iksan," adding, "We hope many people will come to the stadium and give enthusiastic support to the athletes."
