According to the county on July 4, this evaluation was conducted through on-site and document assessments by private experts, including researchers from the Provincial Forest Environment Research Institute, university professors, and forest engineering technicians, targeting sites where new forest roads were established last year.
The forest road that received high marks this time is the Dugok-Changin fire suppression forest road, which was constructed by the Imsil County Forestry Cooperative and implemented by the county in the Changin-ri area of Sinpyeong-myeon.
This section received excellent scores from the evaluation committee in both document evaluation items, such as the appropriateness of the forest road planning and the adequacy of the implementation process, and on-site evaluation items, including the stability of cut-and-fill slopes and road surfaces, adequacy of drainage facilities, and environmental friendliness.
With Imsil County being selected as an excellent city or county in this evaluation, it is expected to receive increased national and provincial budget incentives for next year's forest road project, which will greatly support the promotion of the project.
County Governor Shim Min stated, "We will do our best to establish forest roads for efficient forest management, pest and disease control, rapid response to forest disasters such as fire suppression, and to improve transportation in agricultural and mountain villages."
