Chief Prosecutor Im, arriving for her first day at the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office in Songpa-gu, Seoul, said, "The prosecution must accept responsibility for the lenient investigations and lies it has committed so far."
When asked about internal resistance to prosecution reform, Chief Prosecutor Im responded, "Wasn't the Yoon Suk-yeol administration even labeled a 'prosecution dictatorship'? Compared to that time, it seems that the voices within the prosecution have become somewhat subdued." She continued, "There are many junior prosecutors who feel devastated seeing senior prosecutors, whom we once respected, being investigated on charges of being ringleaders of insurrection. I feel that the prosecution is now reflecting on the fact that it made the wrong judgments during that period."
Regarding criticism that her appointment is politically motivated, Chief Prosecutor Im said, "Having been an internal whistleblower for more than ten years, this is something I have always experienced." She added, "I understand that people will see me differently depending on their perspective. I have no choice but to accept that. I will show my sincerity through my actions going forward."
