Application submitted for connecting road between Dongyongin IC and National Route 42
Project aims to improve logistics efficiency for Yongin International Logistics 4.0 Complex
Construction approval expected within the year, with completion targeted for 2028
The city of Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, announced on July 4 that it has applied to Korea Expressway Corporation for permission to construct a connecting road linking the tentative Dongyongin IC on the Sejong-Pocheon Expressway with existing roads.
This application follows the administrative procedures after the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport approved the feasibility study for the construction of Dongyongin IC last month. In the feasibility study, the benefit-cost ratio (B/C) for Dongyongin IC was 1.04. A B/C ratio greater than 1 indicates that the benefits outweigh the costs, meaning the project is economically viable.
The construction of Dongyongin IC is being pursued as part of the transportation plan for the Yongin International Logistics 4.0 Complex, which is currently being developed in Gorim-dong and Yangji-myeon, Cheoin-gu. The total project cost for building the IC is 93.3 billion won, which will be fully covered by Yongin Joongsim Co., Ltd., the developer of the logistics complex.
The IC is planned to be installed so that vehicles can enter and exit via Urban Planning Road (Jungno 1-1), which connects to National Route 42. The city expects that the new IC will be directly connected to the logistics complex, thereby improving logistics efficiency and enhancing expressway access for nearby residents.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will decide whether to approve the city's application after a review by Korea Expressway Corporation. The city aims to complete the approval process within this year and begin construction in 2028.
Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin, stated, "Once Dongyongin IC opens, not only will nearby residents benefit, but also those in central Yongin, new residents of the Idong public housing district, and workers at the Idong-Namsa Advanced System Semiconductor National Industrial Complex. I will continue to work to ensure the city's plans are realized."
