Bukgu District in Gwangju has been selected as an outstanding institution in the '2025 Social Enterprise Promotion Excellence Local Government Evaluation' organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. This evaluation targeted local governments nationwide and assessed social enterprise promotion policies implemented from January 2023 to April 2024, using 12 indicators across 5 categories to identify best practices.
Bukgu provided practical support measures such as assisting with social enterprise excellent technology certification, expanding online and overseas sales channels, holding integrated briefing sessions, and offering management strategy training. In particular, the operation of a public-private governance council, established in June last year, was recognized as an effective policy foundation.
As a result of these achievements, Bukgu received the Excellence Award and was presented with a commendation from the Minister of Employment and Labor at the Social Enterprise Day ceremony held at the Seoul Science and Technology Convention Center on July 1.
