The Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (headed by Jung Jongdeuk) conducted an intensive on-site inspection at a high-risk construction site for heatwave safety in Busanjin-gu, in cooperation with the Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor. This inspection was carried out as part of a project to protect the health of workers vulnerable to seasonal climate change, with a focus on preventing serious accidents and checking compliance with the five basic safety rules for heatwaves.
The inspection focused on the management status of rest facilities within the construction site and whether cooling equipment had been installed, as well as compliance with the five basic safety rules for heatwaves. The team distributed heatwave safety OPS and posters to promote the five basic rules among workers and provided heat illness prevention kits.
Jung Jongdeuk, head of the regional headquarters, stated, "At construction sites, where outdoor work is common and workers are particularly vulnerable to heatwaves, it is essential to take proactive measures to prevent heat-related illnesses by utilizing the heatwave safety self-inspection checklist." He added, "Both workers and employers must actively participate in heat illness prevention activities by regularly checking the work environment and providing rest facilities equipped with cooling equipment."
