Gyeonggi Province will conduct a joint safety inspection of water play facilities to prevent summer accidents until July 25.
Water play facilities refer to amusement facilities (such as water parks) equipped with water-based amusement installations or rides, as well as swimming pools, which are managed in accordance with legal standards such as the Tourism Promotion Act and the Sports Facilities Act.
This inspection targets 25 facilities that have not been inspected in the past three years, selected from among 333 water play facilities in the province, including 69 water-based amusement facilities and 264 swimming pools.

The main inspection items include: whether there are risk factors such as cracks, deformation, or subsidence in the main structural parts of buildings; the proper functioning of circuit breakers, wiring connections, and grounding; the management status of mechanical devices, intake and exhaust pumps, and various mechanical pipes; the status of water quality and sanitation management; the availability of safety equipment and facilities; and the qualifications and proper placement of safety personnel.
Minor issues identified during the inspection will be addressed immediately after being pointed out on site. For matters requiring improvement, ongoing management of corrective actions will be implemented. In addition, the inspection results will be shared with all cities and counties in the province to help prevent similar cases and to serve as a reference for their own inspections.
Lee Jongdon, Director of Safety Management at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The risk of safety accidents at water play facilities increases during the summer, making thorough safety management essential. We will do our utmost through this safety inspection to ensure that residents can enjoy water activities with peace of mind."
