Purchase Limit Raised from 500,000 to 2 Million Won
Discount Rate Increased from 6% to 7%
As the government expands its consumption support funds, local governments across the country are increasing both the discount benefits and purchase limits for regional currency programs. In this context, Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province has decided to quadruple its monthly purchase limit.
On July 3, Anseong City announced that, starting this month and continuing through August, it will raise the monthly purchase limit for its local currency, the Anseong Sarang Card, from 500,000 won to 2 million won. The monthly purchase limit refers to the maximum amount eligible for the regional currency's discount rate.
Previously, the Anseong Sarang Card had a purchase limit of 500,000 won per month with a 6% discount rate, meaning the maximum benefit was 30,000 won. However, with this adjustment to the purchase limit and discount rate, the discount benefit will increase to 140,000 won.
An official from Anseong City stated, "We expect this temporary increase to not only help consumers reduce their living expenses, but also boost sales for small business owners. Through the activation of regional currency usage, we aim to establish a virtuous cycle of local consumption."
Alongside the expanded purchase limit, the city will also launch the "How About Going Out Tonight?" campaign from July 14 to August 31 to promote nighttime spending. During this period, users who pay with the Anseong Sarang Card between 5 p.m. and midnight will receive 10% cashback on their payments, up to a maximum of 50,000 won per person. Additionally, discount coupons for the public delivery app will be provided between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
