“A Day with Grandmother and Grandfather”... Goryeong County Holds Event to Share Warmth with Seniors

The Korea Life Improvement Goryeong County Association (President Kim Yunhwa) held a 'Grandmother and Grandfather Day' commemorative event on July 2 at the auditorium of the Goryeong County Agricultural Technology Center in North Gyeongsang Province.

This event was organized to wish for the health and happiness of local seniors and to help alleviate their sense of social isolation.

Approximately 150 people, including seniors, association members, and officials, attended the event. The festivities began with a Nanta performance prepared by the association members themselves, followed by a saxophone performance and a Garak Janggu drum performance, among other diverse stage acts. The seniors responded with bright smiles, and applause continued throughout the performances.

President Kim Yunhwa stated, "Beyond simply commemorating the day, we will continue to offer various activities so that seniors can feel warmth and vitality in their daily lives."

County Governor Lee Namcheol said, "I hope that 'Grandmother and Grandfather Day' will be of some help to seniors in leading a vibrant later life," adding, "We will continue to focus the county's resources on senior welfare."

'Grandmother and Grandfather Day' is a symbolic welfare initiative promoted by Goryeong County to address population aging and foster intergenerational harmony. It is held annually with the interest and support of the local community.
