Strengthening Safety Personnel and Equipment
Improving Facility Convenience

Seven beaches in Yeongdeok County, North Gyeongsang Province, will open simultaneously on July 18 and operate for 38 days until August 24.

Renowned as some of the finest beaches on the East Coast, Yeongdeok County's beaches include Goraebul Beach and Daejin Beach, which are famous for their stunning 8-kilometer stretch of fine sandy shoreline; Jangsa Beach, known for its easy accessibility and dense pine forest; and Obo, Gyeongjeong, Hajeo, and Namho Beaches, which are small, clean, and popular as family-friendly destinations.

'Safer and Cleaner'... Seven Yeongdeok Beaches to Open Simultaneously on the 18th Goraebul Beach, Yeongdeok County.

This year, Yeongdeok County's beaches will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. during the peak season, which runs from July 26 to August 10. During the off-peak period, operating hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The county expects that more visitors will come to its beaches this summer, as the heat is projected to last longer than in previous years. To improve services at the beaches, Yeongdeok County has made thorough preparations.

First, to create a comfortable and convenient environment for vacationers, the county has renovated facilities such as restrooms and showers, and is working to improve recreational infrastructure by installing photo zones and palm trees.

In particular, the Buhung District of Jangsa Beach, which was temporarily closed due to the construction of the Buhung Surfing Center, will reopen this year and is establishing itself as a new surfing hotspot.

In addition, considering that many families visit the beaches in Yeongdeok County, special attention is being paid to safety management.

To this end, additional lifesaving equipment such as water scooters, inflatable boats, rescue stations, and life tubes will be deployed. In response to the increasing appearance of jellyfish and sharks along the East Coast, the county will reinforce and install combined jellyfish-shark nets at the beaches before opening day.

Furthermore, 63 water rescue personnel have been selected to undergo joint safety training with the Coast Guard, and after comprehensive safety management training, they will be assigned to the seven beaches to prevent accidents.

In cooperation with related agencies, a total of 118 safety management personnel, including water rescue staff, will be deployed. Starting this year, lifesaving surfboards will be placed at each beach, enabling faster and safer rescue operations.

County Governor Kim Kwangyeol stated, "We are doing our utmost to establish a seamless cooperation system with related organizations so that visitors can enjoy the safest and most pleasant environment possible, and to provide the highest level of service."
