Graduated from Cornell University in the U.S. in 2018
"Chairman Suh likely to entrust succession to his second daughter"
Seo Hojung, the second daughter of Amorepacific Group Chairman Suh Kyungbae, has joined the group's subsidiary 'Osulloc' as a new employee. As the eldest daughter, Seo Minjeong, who was considered the leading successor, has been on a long-term leave of absence since July 2023, some analysts suggest that the succession structure may now be shifting toward Seo Hojung.
According to the cosmetics industry on July 3, Seo Hojung began working as a new employee in the Product Development (PD) team at Osulloc as of July 1. An Amorepacific Group representative explained, "She will be gaining work experience by taking on responsibilities in product development and marketing within the team."
Born in 1995, Seo Hojung graduated from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration in the United States in 2018. It is understood that she did not pursue any separate job-seeking activities after graduation. She also has not participated in management within Amorepacific Group.
Within the industry, there is a growing view that with Seo Hojung's official entry into the group, Chairman Suh Kyungbae may entrust the next generation of management to his second daughter. Until now, industry observers had expected Seo Minjeong to succeed Chairman Suh Kyungbae, but it is now understood that she is not actively participating in company affairs. As of now, the shareholding ratios in Amorepacific Group are Suh Kyungbae (48.66%), Seo Minjeong (2.75%), and Seo Hojung (2.55%). The difference in shareholding between Seo Minjeong and Seo Hojung is only 0.2 percentage points.
