What Attracts Youth: Salary, Welfare, or Work-Life Balance? Busan Selects 110 'Cheongkkeul' Companies

On the afternoon of July 3, the city of Busan (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency held the '2025 Cheongkkeul (Youth-Attractive) Company Launch Ceremony' at the BEXCO Convention Hall, officially announcing the launch of 110 companies selected through a youth evaluation process.

'Cheongkkeul Companies' are selected through a process in which local companies that young people want to work for are directly evaluated by youth. This year, a total of 110 companies were ultimately selected, including 58 companies that were recertified from last year and 52 newly selected companies. A youth evaluation panel of 40 members visited the companies in person and assessed various aspects such as job quality and organizational culture.

This year’s Cheongkkeul Companies reflect the diverse preferences of young people, with 19 companies recognized for their 'attractive salaries', 26 for 'welfare benefits', 25 for 'work-life balance', and 40 for 'future prospects'.

Approximately 200 people attended the launch ceremony, including Mayor Park Hyungjoon, representatives of Cheongkkeul Companies, members of the youth evaluation panel, and young employees. The first part of the event featured presentations by the youth evaluation panel, case studies by young employees, and an award ceremony for the selected companies. The second part included an introduction to support benefits for Cheongkkeul Companies and a special lecture on labor management for the MZ generation.

The city will also begin implementing customized employment linkage programs for Cheongkkeul Companies. A dedicated 'Cheongkkeul Manager' will be assigned for youth matching, and a variety of support projects will be carried out, including on-site information sessions, job fairs, onboarding programs, and internships.

In September, the city plans to select five 'Outstanding Youth Employment Companies' among the Cheongkkeul Companies and provide incentives such as workplace improvement grants worth 40 million won, acquisition tax exemptions, and reductions in credit guarantee fees.

Immediately before the launch ceremony, the 'Cheongkkeul Company Alryeodream (DREAM)' job fair was held at the same venue. Around 350 young people met with 30 Cheongkkeul Companies at the event, which included promotional booths, job lectures, and talk concerts with current employees, providing practical employment information and opportunities to understand various job roles.

Mayor Park Hyungjoon emphasized, "Cheongkkeul Companies are significant not only because they provide jobs, but also because they are trustworthy companies directly chosen by young people. We will continue to implement policies that enable companies and young people to grow together so that Busan can become a city where young people want to live."
