Cheongyang's Integrated Senior Care Model Gains Nationwide Attention
An Innovative Welfare Platform Combining Housing, Care, and Medical Services
The "Senior Welfare Housing," a converged welfare model introduced by Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province, is attracting attention as a benchmark for local governments and private organizations nationwide.
This welfare model, which integrates housing, care, medical, and leisure services for seniors, is a key policy initiative led by Cheongyang County Governor Kim Dongon and is being recognized as an effective and advanced example.
According to Cheongyang County on July 3, there have been more than 50 benchmarking visits by related organizations, local governments, and private care groups to date. On July 2, National Assembly member Jeong Chunseng (Proportional Representative) of the National Innovation Party also visited the Cheongyang Senior Welfare Housing with his parliamentary aides.
Representative Jeong and his delegation listened to explanations about Cheongyang County's integrated care system and systematic welfare service delivery structure, and showed great interest in the innovative welfare operation cases as they toured the facility in person.
Governor Kim Dongon also provided an on-site briefing, sharing the operational methods and policy philosophy behind the Senior Welfare Housing.
Representative Jeong stated, "A community-based care system is an essential foundation in a super-aged society," and added, "There is a need for institutional improvements that enable cooperation between central and local governments. I will consider policy alternatives with reference to the Cheongyang case."
Governor Kim said, "Cheongyang Senior Welfare Housing is a core infrastructure for enabling independent and dignified lives for the elderly," and added, "We will continue to advance integrated community care and realize field-oriented welfare administration."
The Cheongyang Senior Welfare Housing is structured so that the county's integrated care team, visiting health team, and private welfare organizations collaborate in one space, providing not only residents but also local seniors with a one-stop integrated service that encompasses medical, nursing, and care welfare.
