From Competency Assessment to Career Planning: Personalized Approach
Vice Chairmen Shin Hakcheol and Kwon Bongseok Serve as Mentors
AI-Based Practical Training Also Provided, Including Strategic Planning
LG Chem has begun utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to support the career development and enhance the job capabilities of its employees. The company aims to simultaneously promote 'self-directed growth' and 'personalized career planning' through a next-generation talent development program that combines the experience of leaders with AI technology.
On July 3, LG Chem announced that it had launched the 3rd Career Week on July 1, an event designed to help employees proactively set up their own career development plans and explore growth opportunities. The program runs until July 4. As a flagship internal event based on LG Chem’s talent development philosophy of 'leaders nurturing leaders,' this year’s Career Week features major group leaders, including Shin Hakcheol, Vice Chairman of LG Chem, and Kwon Bongseok, Vice Chairman of LG, participating as mentors and speakers.

Notably, starting this year, AI has been fully introduced, evolving the approach to career planning. Employees can assess their current competency levels through AI-based job competency diagnostics and, based on these results, establish career development paths, required skills, and action plans recommended by AI. This initiative is part of LG Chem’s ongoing 'AX (Artificial Intelligence Transformation)' strategy and represents an example of applying AI to talent development.
Additionally, an 'AI-Powered Work Innovation Workshop' was held to facilitate practical application. Employees can participate in customized AI training programs tailored to their job relevance, such as data analysis and strategic planning, thereby enhancing their practical work capabilities.
Vice Chairman Shin Hakcheol emphasized, "When opportunities came my way, instead of wondering whether I could do it, I first thought about whether I could grow. Through Career Week, I hope all employees will also seek opportunities for personal growth and take on challenges together with the company."
This Career Week has been held annually since 2023, with a cumulative participation of over 10,000 employees to date. The number of internal and external leaders who have served as lecturers and mentors has reached about 200. LG Chem plans to continue developing Career Week as a technology-based talent development platform in the future.
