On July 2, starting at 8:00 a.m., the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency conducted the "Three Basic Order Establishment Campaign" at major intersections throughout Daegu, including Hwanggeum Intersection in Suseong-gu.
The campaign was carried out simultaneously by 11 police stations in the Daegu area, with the participation of more than 120 representatives from related organizations and groups, including the Daegu Autonomous Police Committee, the Green Mothers' Association, the Model Drivers' Association, the Korea Road Traffic Authority, and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority.
This campaign was organized with the aim of establishing basic order throughout society following the launch of the new government, and to restore a foundation of trust in citizens' daily lives.
The Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency plans to focus on guiding and cracking down on chronic violations in three key areas that directly affect citizens: traffic order, public order, and economic order for ordinary people.
Beginning with this campaign, the police will conduct intensive publicity and guidance activities for two months in July and August. Starting in September, they plan to launch a full-scale crackdown. The police stated that, under the recognition that "minor disorder can lead to major accidents," they will proactively respond even to seemingly trivial violations of order.
In the area of traffic order, five types of illegal driving will be targeted: illegal U-turns, violations of bus-only lanes, blocking intersections, habitual cutting-in, and violations of traffic laws by ambulances not responding to emergencies.
In the area of public order, the focus will be on cracking down on behaviors that directly inconvenience citizens, such as causing disturbances under the influence of alcohol, and the illegal dumping of garbage and advertisements.
For the area of economic order for ordinary people, the campaign will focus on abnormal activities that harm the economic activities of citizens, such as ticket scalping using macro programs, "no-shows," malicious reviews, leaving without paying for food or drinks, and violence while intoxicated.
Lee Seunghyeop, Commissioner of the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency, stated, "Observing basic order is the starting point for restoring trust in the community and is the minimum promise for a healthy society. We will work to widely spread the awareness that order is competitiveness, so that citizens who follow the rules are never at a disadvantage."
The Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency plans to strengthen its collaborative system with related organizations to realize an order administration that citizens can feel, while also expanding citizen participation campaigns to raise voluntary awareness of order.
