This evaluation comprehensively analyzed the drive, achievements, and innovation of social enterprise promotion policies among local governments nationwide to select outstanding municipalities. Namyangju City received high marks for its efforts to foster a social economy ecosystem, including promotional and market development support projects aimed at enhancing the sustainability of social enterprises.
Since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration in 2023, Namyangju City has expanded the operation of its Social Economy Support Center, focusing on building institutional foundations and expanding both online and offline promotional activities.
In particular, the city was recognized as an exemplary case for its public market development support project centered on the region, notably through the hosting of the "Gyeonggi Northern Value Purchasing Consultation Fair."
Additionally, the city has contributed to strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of social enterprises by discovering projects based on the Social Value Index (SVI), operating capacity-building programs for enterprises, and supporting connections to both public and private markets.
Based on this support, social enterprises are working to establish community care systems in collaboration with facilities such as the Community Care Center, helping to address gaps in local social services.
Going forward, Namyangju City plans to further solidify its growth foundation by expanding support for social value measurement, strengthening networks among enterprises, and establishing a diverse array of market support systems.
Lee Baekyoung, Director of the Department of Finance and Economy, stated, "This award is a collective achievement made possible by the city's continued investment and the participation of citizens and the local community," adding, "We will continue to actively support social enterprises so that they can grow as key players in solving local issues and creating value."
