Organized as a Town Hall Meeting
President Lee: "Thirty Days of Relentless Effort with a Sense of Urgency, I Will Humbly Answer the People's Questions"
President Lee Jaemyung will hold a press conference at 10 a.m. on July 3, marking his 30th day in office. This is a notably swift move, considering that previous presidents typically held their first press conferences around 100 days after inauguration.
The presidential office explained in a written briefing on July 2, "The upcoming press conference, titled '30 Days of the President: The Media Asks, the President Answers to the People,' will proceed in the following order: President Lee's opening remarks, a Q&A session with journalists, and closing remarks."
This press conference is expected to take the form of a town hall meeting and last for about two hours. The presidential office stated, "Reflecting President Lee's intention to communicate more closely with journalists, the event will be organized as a town hall meeting, and the Q&A session will take place without any prior coordination."
The presidential office added, "We expect this to be an active forum for communication across four areas: people's livelihoods and the economy, politics and foreign affairs and security, society and culture, and other topics."
Meanwhile, President Lee stated on Facebook, "The past 30 days have been an intense period during which I engraved the earnest hopes and wishes of 52 million citizens in my heart every moment." He continued, "I have organized this press conference to reflect on the past 30 days, during which I have worked tirelessly with a sense of urgency, and to renew my determination for the next four years and eleven months." He also remarked, "I will humbly answer the questions of the sovereign people, ranging from immediate issues to the direction and vision of state affairs."
