According to Singaporean media outlet CNA on July 1 (local time), the Singaporean government announced that starting from this day, it would distribute the SG60 vouchers?commemorative vouchers marking the 60th anniversary of Singapore's independence?to citizens aged 21 and over.

Approximately 3 million adults are expected to benefit from the SG60 voucher distribution. The amount and timing of the vouchers differ by age group. Citizens aged 60 and above this year can receive vouchers worth 800 Singapore dollars (850,000 KRW) first. Citizens aged between 21 and 59 can claim vouchers worth 600 Singapore dollars (640,000 KRW) starting from 10 a.m. on July 22.

Explaining the reason for the staggered distribution schedule, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and for Culture, Community and Youth Low Yen Ling stated, "We are prioritizing the elderly who have contributed to the nation, and focusing support during the first three weeks of July on older adults who may have difficulties claiming or printing the vouchers digitally."

Recipients of the vouchers will receive an SG60 postcard by mail. This postcard contains a message from Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and a QR code that can be used to apply for the vouchers.

The vouchers can be used at Community Development Council (CDC) voucher merchants until December 31 next year. Half of the vouchers can be used at local shops and hawker stalls, while the remaining half can be used at supermarkets.

The Singaporean government is expected to allocate a total of 2.02 billion Singapore dollars (2.1563 trillion KRW) for this voucher distribution.

On July 1, Prime Minister Wong stated via social media, "The SG60 vouchers are a way to recognize the contributions of all Singaporeans in our nation-building journey," and added, "I hope you make good and useful use of them."
