Since the opening of three Guri stations on the extended Line 8 in August 2024, Guri Urban Corporation has been managing the nation's longest escalator at the Guri Station transfer passage. As it is the only transfer passage, the corporation has been establishing a variety of accident prevention measures and working to raise safety awareness among users.
This joint campaign was also part of efforts to improve safety awareness at the Guri Station transfer passage. For reference, Guri Urban Corporation has been conducting ongoing campaigns to enhance passenger safety awareness since last year, under a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Northern Gyeonggi Branch of the Korea Elevator Safety Corporation. The campaign included distributing wet wipes and leaflets bearing safety messages such as "Do not walk or run" and "Always hold the handrail while moving." Notably, this event featured the Waguri character from the Guri Commercial District Revitalization Foundation.
President Yoo Donghyeok stated, "We plan to implement various measures in cooperation with related organizations to ensure the safe use of escalators for customers at the Guri Station transfer passage," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure that all citizens can use the station facilities more safely and conveniently."
