SL Energy announced on July 2 that it has secured a contract for 3 million liters of bio heavy oil, valued at 3 billion won, in a power generation fuel tender issued by Korea Midland Power. The contract will run from August 1 to September 30, and is expected to serve as a significant milestone in SL Energy's expansion into eco-friendly energy businesses.
The bio heavy oil awarded in this contract is an eco-friendly fuel produced from plant and animal-based oils. It will be used as a power generation fuel at Korea Midland Power plants. Compared to conventional heavy oil, it significantly reduces emissions of sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, and fine dust. It can also be applied to existing power plant facilities without the need for additional equipment modifications.
SL Energy is an energy specialist company with over 20 years of experience in the petrochemical fuel business. The company has recently diversified its business into eco-friendly fuels and renewable energy sectors. With carbon neutrality and ESG management as its core values, SL Energy has acquired ISCC PLUS certification and is expanding the development and supply of renewable fuels such as bio heavy oil and biodiesel, aiming to lead the eco-friendly power generation fuel market.
A company representative stated, "This successful contract marks our first achievement in expanding the technology and experience we have accumulated in the industrial fuel oil sector into the eco-friendly fuel market," adding, "We plan to further strengthen our position and continue to grow in both domestic and international markets through sustainable energy solutions."
