Starting on July 2, Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province will hold resident briefing sessions at Sohyang Hall in Sosa District Office for sites eligible for the Mini New Town and Bucheon-style Station Area Redevelopment Project applications.
As a result of the application process conducted in May, resident (including landowner) applications were received for a total of 13 sites: 2 sites for the Mini New Town pilot project, 4 sites for the Bucheon-style Station Area Redevelopment Project, and 7 sites for the Combined Redevelopment Project.
The city will hold separate resident briefing sessions for the Mini New Town pilot project application areas: on July 2 for residents in the area around Wonmi Elementary School in Wonmi-dong, and on July 3 for residents in the area around Geukdong and Lotte Apartments in Simgokbon-dong.
In addition, a resident briefing session for the Station Area Redevelopment Project application areas will be held on July 8 at Sohyang Hall in Sosa District Office. This session will cover the 4 station area sites and the 7 combined redevelopment sites.
After the resident briefing sessions, the city plans to make final selections for up to 2 sites each for the Mini New Town and Bucheon-style Station Area Redevelopment Projects through a selection committee by the end of this month. The combined redevelopment sites will be grouped together with the station area sites and promoted as a single district.
A Bucheon City official stated, "Through these briefing sessions, we aim to enhance residents' understanding of the project applications and gather a wide range of opinions," adding, "We will lead the successful implementation of redevelopment projects in the original downtown area."
