On July 2, Hanjin announced that it has converted its gas station near Gimpo Airport into an electric vehicle charging station. The new station offers fast charging with capacities ranging from 100 to 200 kW. For driver convenience, the site is equipped with unmanned cafes, lounges, rest areas, automatic car washes, and simple vacuum cleaners for self-service cleaning. In addition, the charging area features a thermal imaging closed-circuit television (CCTV) system, as well as fire suppression systems including water tanks, fire hoses, and extinguishers to prevent the spread of fires.

Including the new Gimpo charging station, Hanjin is expanding electric vehicle infrastructure at major business sites nationwide. The company aims to contribute to the spread of domestic electric vehicle infrastructure and to implement eco-friendly management. In particular, Hanjin is focusing on expanding infrastructure at parcel terminals, where demand for electric vehicle charging is high. In 2022, the company installed electric vehicle chargers at four terminals in Seoul Guro, Seoul Gangseo, Gwangju, and Jeju. Since last year, Hanjin has added charging stations at a total of 10 parcel hubs, including Busan and Jinju. The newly opened Gimpo charging station is located outside, making it more accessible for general vehicles compared to charging stations located inside existing business sites.

Based on this infrastructure, Hanjin is also accelerating its transition to eco-friendly logistics. The company currently operates approximately 500 eco-friendly vehicles and is increasing this proportion each year. In 2022, 59% of all vehicles purchased by Hanjin were eco-friendly, and this figure rose to 73% in 2023. As a result of its outstanding compliance with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's 'Eco-Friendly Vehicle Purchase Target System,' Hanjin was awarded the 'Korea Energy Award' in 2024.

Hanjin is also expanding its eco-friendly business by building solar power generation facilities to produce and sell its own electricity. Since 2023, the company has been operating solar power facilities in Wonju and Jinju, each producing approximately 65 MWh of renewable energy annually. Last year, Hanjin installed a self-consumption solar generator at the Nambu Busan parcel terminal, which replaces approximately 52 MWh of electricity annually with renewable energy. This year, Hanjin plans to complete new solar generators at the Daejeon hub terminal, Incheon Airport GDC, and the Yeongnam branch Pohang warehouse, aiming to replace approximately 354 MWh of electricity annually.

A Hanjin official stated, "Hanjin is expanding its carbon emission and greenhouse gas reduction initiatives under a concrete plan to achieve Net-Zero," adding, "As a global logistics company, we will continue activities that create social value and contribute to building a sustainable society."
