Cosmax, a global cosmetics ODM (Original Development Manufacturing) company, announced on July 2 that it has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Eurofins, a French clinical institution, in the field of cosmetics clinical trials.

Eurofins, established in 1987, is a clinical specialist company operating more than 950 laboratories worldwide. It provides clinical services across the food, environment, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics sectors. In the cosmetics field, Eurofins offers clinical, analytical, and in vitro microbiological testing, supporting customized solutions tailored to diverse client needs.

Cosmax pursued this partnership to accelerate the global recognition of K-beauty. Recently, K-beauty has been gaining recognition not only in Asia but also in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. According to the Korea International Trade Association, cumulative cosmetics exports from January to May this year reached $3.814 billion. Notably, exports to Europe and the Middle East surged by 42% and 62%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.

As K-beauty expands into more export markets, the need for clinical evaluations that meet the standards of each country is increasing. Cosmax’s strategy is to enhance product reliability by collaborating with reputable global clinical institutions such as Eurofins. Through this partnership, Cosmax plans to utilize Eurofins’ global infrastructure and expand cooperation with clinical institutions in Europe.

In particular, Cosmax aims to support client companies’ entry into global markets by verifying sunscreen products. The two companies also plan to collaborate on efficacy evaluations of various functional products. Furthermore, Cosmax and Eurofins will leverage their accumulated technological expertise to develop sunscreens tailored to the characteristics of different countries, such as ethnicity and climate, and will conduct joint research on UV protection effectiveness and skin photoaging.

A Cosmax representative stated, “Through this partnership, we will demonstrate Cosmax’s cosmetics technology at global clinical institutions, thereby supporting our clients in entering global markets,” and added, “We will continue to contribute to the expansion of K-beauty’s global market base through various initiatives in the future.”
