On July 1, after the regular briefing, Kim Hanjong, Governor of Jangseong County in South Jeolla Province, presented the direction for the second half of the 8th civilian administration. He stated, "To overcome the crisis of population decline, we will focus on five key areas: population, balanced development, safety, tourism, and the economy." He highlighted several major accomplishments from the past three years, including the confirmation of the establishment of the National Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center, the suspension of operations at the Korea Cement plant, the creation of a smart agriculture development district, the development of Jangseongho Wonderland, and the selection of Jangseong as a pilot area for educational advancement. In particular, he stated, "The National Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center, scheduled for completion in 2029, will create 12,500 jobs," and added, "We will address the population issue through job creation and the growth of our people."
In addition, Governor Kim identified several key tasks to be pursued for the remainder of his term, including creating an environment conducive to childbirth and child-rearing, ensuring balanced growth across the 11 towns and townships, preventing disasters and accidents, expanding tourism resources, and revitalizing the local economy. He declared, "By joining hands with the residents and public officials, and with the spirit of cultivating a 'Millennium Forest,' we will usher in a golden era for Jangseong."
