In the first half of this year, BHC Chicken was found to be the most popular chicken brand among Korean consumers. BHC Chicken ranked first among brands and was also the most popular menu item.
According to an analysis by AhaTrend, which investigates and analyzes consumer big data, more than 3,000 related keywords for each chicken brand were examined on Naver from January 1 to June 29, 2025. As a result, the most searched chicken brand in the first half of this year was BHC Chicken, and the most searched chicken menu was BHC Chicken's Kwasakking.
In the chicken brand search rankings, BHC Chicken, which was ranked first in 2023, regained the top spot by surpassing Kyochon Chicken, which was number one last year. Kyochon Chicken ranked second, BBQ Chicken came in third, 60Gye Chicken moved up one spot to fourth place, and Goobne Chicken ranked fifth. This was followed by Puradak Chicken, Cheogajip Yangnyeom Chicken, Norang Tongdak, Jadarm Chicken in ninth place, and Mexicana Chicken.
In the chicken menu search rankings, BHC Chicken's "Kwasakking," a new menu item launched in February this year, recorded a total of 490,000 searches and ranked first. "KeuKeuKeu Chicken" from 60Gye, which was the most searched menu in the second half of last year, ranked second in the first half of this year with about 460,000 searches. "Chifilling" from Mexicana, which was released last year and became a mega hit, recorded a total of 370,000 searches and ranked third among all menu items.
Meanwhile, according to Statistics Korea, while the overall consumer price index rose by 16% over the past five years since 2000, the price of dining out increased by 25%. Among 39 dining-out items, kimbap (38%), hamburgers (37%), tteokbokki (35%), and jjajangmyeon (33%) saw the highest increases. The price of chicken rose by 28%.
A representative from the Korea Foodservice Industry Association explained that sectors with a high proportion of delivery sales tend to have higher price increases. The representative added, "The burden of delivery fees and commissions on foodservice business owners is enormous. These need to be reduced. Since it is impossible to operate at a loss, food prices inevitably increase, which leads to higher dining-out prices."
