A motorboat that lost its direction and drifted at sea due to thick fog was safely rescued by the Coast Guard.
The Wando Coast Guard Station announced on July 1 that at around 9:05 p.m. on June 30, it rescued the motorboat A (1.16 tons, 2 people on board) that was drifting approximately 3 kilometers southeast of Daejanggudo, Wando County, South Jeolla Province.

It was determined that on the same day at around 3:30 p.m., the A departed from Songho Port in Haenam County for leisure activities, but lost its direction and was unable to secure visibility due to localized thick fog, leading to a rescue request to 119.
Upon receiving the report, the Wando Coast Guard urgently dispatched two coastal rescue boats, located the A, provided close safety management, and guided it safely to Ttangkkeut Galsan Port.
A Coast Guard official stated, "At the time, the sea was covered with such thick fog that visibility was only about 10 meters, making it extremely difficult to see ahead." The official urged, "Before departure, always check weather information, inspect navigation equipment such as radar and AIS, and be sure to carry communication devices capable of location tracking."
