"2025 Korea Picture Book Awards" Open for Entries Until the 28th...Total Prize Money 112 Million Won

Since 2023, the Korea Picture Book Awards have been selecting picture books that demonstrate artistic quality and originality. Marking its third year, the 2025 Korea Picture Book Awards will, as in the previous year, select a total of nine winning works, with a total prize pool of 112 million won.

Eligible entries are Korean original picture books that have been published and are currently distributed between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025. Both domestic publishers and copyright holders (authors) may apply. Those wishing to participate must first consult between the publisher and the copyright holder (author), then submit an online application via the Korea Picture Book Awards website by the 28th.

A total of nine works will be selected for awards such as the Grand Prize, Special Prize, and Rookie Prize, with recipients receiving the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award and the President of the Korea Publication Industry Promotion Agency Award. The Grand Prize will honor one work each in the fiction and nonfiction categories, for a total of two top awards.

The Special Prize will be awarded to six works regardless of category, while the Rookie Prize will go to a debut picture book for which both the text and illustrations were created by the same author. In addition, to recognize the contribution of the publishers involved in the production of the winning works, each publisher will receive a separate prize of 3 million won.

The winning works will be finalized through a judging process and announced in September, with certificates and prize money presented at an awards ceremony at the end of the year. The winners will also be registered on the integrated publishing export platform in connection with the agency's overseas expansion support projects, and will be promoted both domestically and internationally through various channels, including features and author interviews in the English-language webzine "K-Book Trends."

A representative from the Korea Publication Industry Promotion Agency stated, "The Korea Picture Book Awards serve as a platform to support authors' experimental and sincere creative efforts, and as an important starting point for showcasing the quality and diversity of Korean picture books to the world. We look forward to receiving many submissions filled with new perspectives and stories again this year."
