Recruiting 40 Elementary School Students in Grades 4 to 6 Until August 5
The Water Quality Research Institute of the Gwangju Waterworks Headquarters announced on July 1 that it is recruiting participants for the "Children's Tap Water Experience Camp" to be held during the summer vacation.
The "Children's Tap Water Experience Camp" offers children the opportunity to directly participate in activity programs related to tap water and provides a hands-on environment to help alleviate any vague concerns they may have about tap water.
The camp will be held twice, on August 12 and 13, and will include field visits to the Water Quality Research Institute and Deoknam Water Purification Plant, as well as hands-on experiences such as tap water quality testing. Each session will run from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In particular, experts will provide educational programs tailored to children’s perspectives on various topics, including: making tap water themselves, learning about the tap water production process, observing plankton living in water, experiencing water quality testing, and solving tap water quizzes.
Applications can be submitted from July 1 to August 5 via the "Gwangju City Baro Reservation" website or by phone. The camp is open to students in grades 4 to 6 of elementary school, with 20 participants per session.
Jung Sookkyung, Director of the Water Quality Research Institute at the Waterworks Headquarters, said, "I hope that through the various hands-on activities and the tour of the water purification plant at the children's camp, participants will gain a direct understanding of tap water quality and develop trust in Bit-Yeoul Water, the clean tap water of Gwangju City."
