Hyundai Transys Wins Three Main Awards at Red Dot Design Award

Hyundai Transys announced on July 1 that it has won three main awards at the prestigious international design competition, the 2025 Red Dot Design Award.

The Red Dot Design Award is recognized as one of the world's top three design awards, alongside Germany's iF Design Award and the United States' IDEA Design Award. Each year, winners are selected in various categories based on a range of core evaluation criteria, including innovation and functionality in design.

The works for which Hyundai Transys received main awards are as follows: the Modular Seat (Commercial Vehicle category), the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) Cabin Concept (Train, Aircraft, and Ship category), and the Reclining Chair Design (Commercial Furniture category). These works embody an innovative design vision for future mobility environments and spatial utilization.

The Modular Seat is a modular seat design for PBVs (Purpose Built Vehicles), allowing seat components to be attached or detached depending on the intended use. It was highly praised for maximizing convenience and spatial efficiency, enabling easy seat layout changes for a wide range of customers.

The Urban Air Mobility (UAM) Cabin Concept features a lightweight design that maximizes the use of limited UAM space and reduces the weight of the aircraft. By applying a slim mesh-backrest and a 3D-printed aluminum armrest, the concept showcases advanced lightweight technology. The use of bench-type seats and a cushion tip-up function enhances mobility for overweight or transportation-vulnerable passengers and improves the utilization of interior space.

The Reclining Chair Design is characterized by an ergonomic structure, applied to automotive seats, that analyzes body pressure when seated to provide comfort. The design is optimized for both relaxation and work environments, and user-centered convenience is further enhanced through smartphone function control.

Ko Myunghee, Executive Vice President of the Hyundai Transys Seat Research and Development Center, stated, "In the era of future mobility, seats are becoming key components as moving living spaces," adding, "With Hyundai Transys' unique design and technological capabilities, we will continue to deliver new experiences and value to the interior spaces of future mobility."
