Tasaki Shuzo Brewery in Kagoshima, Japan
Wins 'Grand Gold Award' in Japanese Soju Producer Category at This Year's TWSC
Shinsegae L&B announced on July 1 that it will launch the Japanese sweet potato soju 'Kuro Hikoboshi' at No Brand stores nationwide.
Kuro Hikoboshi is a high-quality sweet potato (Satsumaimo) soju produced by Tasaki Shuzo, a family-run brewery established in 1887 in Kagoshima, the heartland of Japanese soju. Tasaki Shuzo was awarded the 'Grand Gold Award' in the Japanese soju producer category at the Tokyo Whisky & Spirit Competition (TWSC) this year and is a certified producer under the Kagoshima soju government certification system.
Kuro Hikoboshi is made by carefully selecting sweet potatoes grown in Kagoshima, brewing them with black koji, and then blending a base spirit aged for two years with another base aged for one year. The product is notable for its deep sweet potato flavor and smooth finish, featuring a savory sweet potato aroma and a clean aftertaste. It comes in a 900mL bottle, with an alcohol content of 25%, and is priced at 29,800 KRW.
A Shinsegae L&B representative stated, "We planned this product at a reasonable price so that many liquor enthusiasts can enjoy the increasingly popular Japanese sweet potato soju without burden. We hope customers will experience the unique deep flavor and charm of Japanese sweet potato soju at an affordable price."
