681 Kitchen Staff to Be Recruited on a Rolling Basis
Expansion of Local Talent Participation Expected
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on July 1 that it will be accepting applications for kitchen staff responsible for meal preparation and related duties at kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, and special schools through local community platforms such as 'Danggeun.'
The number of positions available in this open recruitment is 681, including vacancies and those resulting from mandatory retirement. Applicants can submit the required documents via email or through the local community platform 'Danggeun' until July 14.
In order to improve accessibility to kitchen staff recruitment and diversify the talent pool, the Office of Education signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Danggeun Market on June 30. This allows local residents to easily access information about kitchen staff job openings and apply through Danggeun. It is the first such initiative among the 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education.
The Office of Education expects that using Danggeun will improve recruitment accessibility and expand opportunities for local talent to enter the public sector.
Eligibility requirements specify that applicants must be South Korean nationals (including those with dual citizenship, but excluding foreigners). There are no restrictions regarding gender or place of residence, and no additional qualifications are required.
Details regarding qualifications, recruitment methods, and schedules can be found on the online faculty recruitment system or in the announcements section of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education website.
Superintendent Jung Keunsik stated, "This partnership with Danggeun Market is a new attempt to help local talent participate more easily, and it serves as a model case of cooperation between public institutions and private platforms," adding, "I hope this initiative will be expanded to other metropolitan and provincial offices of education as well."
