Priority Opening of Available Sections to Minimize Traffic Inconvenience
Seocho-gu, Seoul announced that 6 out of the total 7 sections of the "Road Construction Project Including Naegok District" will be partially opened starting from 11:00 a.m. on July 1. The sections being opened this time include the Heonleung-ro connecting road, the 2nd Cheonggyesan-gil, the Saewon-Tapseong connecting road, the Bonmaeul connecting road, the internal district road, and the Cheongryongmaeul access road, totaling 1,689 meters.
The road construction project including Naegok District is a joint initiative by Seocho-gu and Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) to alleviate traffic congestion around the Naegok public housing area. Considering weather conditions such as the monsoon season and construction circumstances, the district office has decided to open only the 6 sections that are ready for traffic, with the remaining Cheonggyesan-gil section to be completed and opened as soon as possible.
This partial opening is expected to have a short-term effect of dispersing traffic during commuting hours and will significantly improve accessibility between Naegok District and neighboring areas. These sections serve as key links connecting major arterial roads such as Cheonggyesan-ro and Heonleung-ro, and are also expected to contribute to the expansion of the metropolitan transportation network connecting Yangjae IC and surrounding arterial roads in the future.
Seocho-gu Mayor Jun Sungsoo stated, "Due to the rapid increase in local traffic demand following the move-in of residents to the Naegok District public housing, we decided on a partial opening to alleviate residents' inconvenience as much as possible. Going forward, we will continue to expand infrastructure in connection with major development projects in the area, including Naegok District, and will persistently pursue improvements to transportation infrastructure that provide tangible benefits to residents' daily lives."
