Yongin Suji-Gugal and Goyang Tanhyeon-Hwajeong to Hold "Aging Planning City Briefing Session"

Gyeonggi Province will hold a briefing session on aging planning cities.

On July 1, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will host the "Aging Planning City On-Site Policy Briefing Session" at 5:00 p.m. on July 9 at Yongin Poeun Art Hall and at 5:00 p.m. on July 10 at Goyang Baekseok Annex.

This briefing session is intended for residents in the areas of Suji and Gugal in Yongin, and Tanhyeon and Hwajeong in Goyang, where the basic maintenance plan for aging planning cities other than the first-generation new towns is currently being established. The briefing sessions for Yeongtong in Suwon and Banwol in Ansan will be promoted in the second half of this year after consultation with local governments, taking into account the stage of establishing the basic maintenance plan for aging planning cities in those regions.

An aging planning city refers to a large-scale residential development site that has been developed for more than 20 years and covers an area exceeding 1 million square meters, in accordance with the Special Act on Maintenance and Support for Aging Planning Cities implemented last year. These areas require comprehensive and systematic maintenance due to both physical deterioration and the decline of urban functions. Out of 111 such locations nationwide, 27 are in Gyeonggi Province.

Previously, Gyeonggi Province expedited the establishment of the basic maintenance plan for aging planning cities in the five first-generation new towns. For this reason, the province believes that high levels of interest from residents in other aging planning cities are also necessary.

Son Imseong, Director of Urban Housing at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Aging planning city maintenance is not just urban development; it is a core task that will determine the lives of residents and the future of the city. We will continue to strengthen communication with residents and present a maintenance direction for aging planning cities that residents can trust."
