The Sacheon City Hall Women's Basketball Team achieved a valuable runner-up finish at the "2025 Taebaek Mayor's Cup National Business Basketball Federation Tournament," held at the Highland Gymnasium in Taebaek, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province.
This tournament, hosted by the Korea Business Basketball Federation, featured four women's business basketball teams from across the country (Sacheon City Hall, Gimcheon City Hall, Daegu City Hall, and Seodaemun District Office), competing in a round-robin format.
On the first day of the tournament, Sacheon City Hall defeated Gimcheon City Hall 63-54. On the second day, they continued their winning streak by overcoming Daegu City Hall 74-60. However, in the final match, which effectively served as the championship game, they narrowly lost to Seodaemun District Office 49-52, finishing as runners-up by a close margin of three points.
In particular, Park Ina of Sacheon City Hall was recognized for her outstanding performance and dedicated play, receiving the Excellence Award and contributing significantly to the team's runner-up finish.
Basketball officials expressed surprise at Sacheon City Hall's rapid growth, noting that the team had remained in the lower ranks in last year's tournament.
Since 2024, under the new leadership of Coach Kim Seunghwan, the team underwent a full-scale overhaul. With active support from Mayor Park Dongsik of Sacheon, the recruitment of talented players such as Kim Hana and Ko Rimi during the tournament preparation period greatly strengthened the team's capabilities, which is considered a key factor in their success.
Building on the experience of finishing as runners-up in this tournament, the Sacheon City Hall Women's Basketball Team has expressed its determination to intensify training with the goal of winning the 80th National Men's and Women's Basketball Championship, which will be held next month.
Club representative and Mayor Park Dongsik stated, "Our players gave their all to the very end with strong mental fortitude and teamwork, achieving this valuable runner-up result. I will continue to provide support and encouragement to further the development of women's basketball."
