Yangju City Provides 396 Electric Fans to Heatwave-Vulnerable Households

"Let's Spend a Healthy Summer Together"

Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Yang Soo Hyun) announced on June 30 that it recently held the '2025 Healthy Summer Sharing Campaign' ceremony at the Yangju Daulim Center ahead of the full summer season, and will provide electric fans to 396 low-income and vulnerable households.

About 20 people attended the event, including Mayor Yang Soo Hyun, Chae Jeong Seon, co-chair of the Yangju Community Security Council, and Lee Kyung A, head of the Northern Gyeonggi Branch of the Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea, to participate in the sharing campaign.

This initiative is part of Yangju City's heatwave protection measures for vulnerable groups under the vision of 'Yangju City Safe from Heatwave Disasters in 2025.' It is a proactive step to strengthen the social welfare safety net and protect citizens' right to health from heatwaves through seasonally appropriate, community-based sharing activities.

Mayor Yang Soo Hyun stated, "A single electric fan can be more than just a cooling device; it can serve as a welfare tool to protect the health and safety of our citizens. We will continue to proactively respond to seasonal welfare needs and implement policies that all citizens can truly feel."

Co-chair Chae Jeong Seon also emphasized, "I hope this support, though small, will provide real help to our neighbors during the ongoing heatwave. We will continue to create a warm welfare environment where both the public and private sectors work together to protect those in crisis."

Yangju City supported 172 households with electric fans last year, and this year has more than doubled the scale of support to ensure that more citizens can safely get through the summer heatwave.
