Pilot AI and Software Programs
for Students at Five Schools Including Pangyo and Seongnam High Schools
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province is partnering with the industrial sector to support future-oriented artificial intelligence (AI) education, aiming to nurture local students into global talents.

On June 30, at the first conference room on the fourth floor of City Hall, Seongnam Mayor Shin Sangjin, Doosan Enerbility Vice President Kim Dongcheol, and LIG Nex1 CEO Shin Ikhyun attended the signing ceremony of the 'Business Agreement for Glocal Convergence Talent Development.'
According to the agreement, Doosan Enerbility (located in Jeongja-dong) and LIG Nex1 (located in Sampyeong-dong) will pilot AI and software (SW) education programs from September to December for students at five schools, including Seongnam High School and Pangyo High School.
At each company, working-level professionals will volunteer their expertise: Doosan Enerbility will provide education related to eco-friendly power generation facilities such as nuclear power, gas turbines, and wind power, as well as AI solutions; LIG Nex1 will offer education on artificial intelligence and embedded software.
Mentoring and career guidance will also be provided in connection with the program.
After piloting the program, the city plans to expand the number of participating companies, schools, and students starting in March next year.
Mayor Shin Sangjin stated, "By establishing a collaborative system with companies related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we will be able to foster convergence talents who realize both globalization and localization (glocalization) at the same time," adding, "The future of Seongnam as a special city for the Fourth Industrial Revolution is bright."
