Indicted on Additional Charges Including Perjury
Former Defense Security Command chief Yeo Inhyeong and former Defense Intelligence Command chief Moon Sangho, who were indicted and detained on charges of participating in the 12·3 Martial Law, have been additionally detained.
According to the military on June 30, the Central Regional Military Court issued additional detention warrants for former commanders Yeo Inhyeong and Moon Sangho at the request of the military prosecution. The court cited concerns over the destruction of evidence as the reason.
Yeo Inhyeong and Moon Sangho were indicted and detained earlier this year, and their initial six-month detention period for the first trial was set to expire in early July. In response, the military prosecution filed additional charges against the two former commanders, including perjury and leaking military secrets, and requested the court to issue additional detention warrants based on these new charges.
Meanwhile, Park Ansu, Army Chief of Staff, and Lee Jinwoo, former commander of the Capital Defense Command, who were detained around the same time, were released on June 25 after the military prosecution requested conditional bail as their detention periods were nearing expiration, and the court accepted the request.
