Practicing Sharing in Chadong Village, Jinwol-myeon
Through Living Environment Improvements and Community Support
On June 28, POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (headed by Jaeyoon Ko) led the way in practicing community sharing by conducting a special talent volunteer activity in the area around Chadong Village, Jinwol-myeon.
Gwangyang Steelworks has been putting into practice POSCO's unique culture of "volunteering and sharing" through regular joint volunteer activities and special talent volunteer events each year. As part of this, the company visited its sister village, Chadong Village, to carry out customized sharing activities for local residents.

This volunteer event brought together 13 talent volunteer groups under Gwangyang Steelworks, each focusing on their own area of expertise, along with participation from National Assembly member Hyangyeop Kwon and Gwangyang Mayor Inhwa Jung. Volunteer groups specializing in agricultural machinery, electrical work, laundry, beauty services, traditional games, calligraphy, foot massage, woodworking, photography, and nail art took part, offering a wide range of community contribution activities.
The volunteer activities were divided into two main themes: improving living conditions and enhancing cultural life. For living environment improvements, the agricultural machinery, laundry, electrical, and woodworking talent volunteer groups provided services such as repairing agricultural equipment, washing bedding, and fixing electrical issues?tasks that can be difficult for elderly residents to handle on their own.
For cultural enrichment, volunteer groups specializing in beauty services, traditional games, calligraphy, puffed rice snacks, foot massage, and photography offered haircuts, traditional game experiences, calligraphy workshops, portrait photography, and nail art, bringing smiles to the faces of senior residents.
In particular, the woodworking volunteer group contributed to the community by personally crafting and donating a shoe cabinet for the village hall, further enhancing residents' convenience. Additionally, for residents in need of gate repairs, volunteer groups visited individual homes to provide not only gate repairs but also painting services, delivering tailored support.
One resident of Chadong Village said, "I am truly grateful that the volunteer groups came directly to help with things I couldn't manage on my own. It is a great source of strength to have people with such diverse talents working for our village."
Jaeyoon Ko, Head of Gwangyang Steelworks, stated, "Growing together with the local community is a core value of POSCO. We will continue to do our best to communicate with local residents and provide practical support through various talent volunteer activities."
Meanwhile, Gwangyang Steelworks continues to practice POSCO's unique culture of "volunteering and sharing" by conducting regular joint volunteer activities with the local community each year. Currently, 49 talent volunteer groups are active, with employees using their individual skills to provide customized support that meets the needs of the community.
