Since its inception in 2015, this forum has served as a platform for practical cooperation and friendly exchanges between Korea and Hubei Province. Since 2022, the Korea Maritime Institute has participated as a co-organizer, strengthening collaboration in the maritime and fisheries sectors.

This year’s forum will focus on the theme of the "2025 Central China Hydrogen Industry GP (Global Partnering) Project." Approximately 100 participants are expected to attend, including hydrogen technology experts, academics, government officials from both Korea and China, and representatives from logistics companies.

The event is co-hosted by major Korean and Chinese organizations, including the KOTRA Wuhan Trade Center, the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Wuhan, the Hubei Foreign Affairs Office, the Wuhan Foreign Affairs Office, the Wuhan Hydrogen Energy Industry Promotion Association, the Wuhan Urban Construction Investment and Development Group, and Sinopec Hydrogen Energy Machinery (Wuhan) Co., Ltd.

The opening ceremony will begin with welcoming remarks from the Consulate General of Korea in Wuhan, followed by congratulatory speeches from representatives of the Hubei Foreign Affairs Office, Wuhan Energy Group, and Sinopec Hydrogen Machinery. The KOTRA China Regional Headquarters will deliver a greeting expressing hopes for cooperation in the hydrogen industry between the two countries.

Session 1 of the keynote presentations will address the current status of the hydrogen energy industry and technology in Korea and China. Professor Yang Ming of China University of Geosciences will present on the Chinese hydrogen industry and logistics hubs, while Kim Taeil, Director of the KMI China Research Center, will discuss the growth potential of maritime transportation in China’s hydrogen industry.

Session 2 will feature the sharing of operational case studies in the hydrogen industry from both countries, project presentations by leading companies such as Wuhan Energy Group and Han-Young Technochem, and an on-site contract signing ceremony.

After the forum, participants will visit hydrogen infrastructure facilities in Wuhan for an on-site tour.

KMI expects this event to serve as a practical bridgehead for domestic hydrogen-related and shipping companies seeking to enter the Chinese market. The institute also plans to continue expanding cooperation to build a hydrogen industry ecosystem between Korea and China in the future.
