Ansan City announced on the 30th that it will hold a kick-off briefing session for the 'Basic Plan and Feasibility Study for the Urban Development Project of Block 63 in Singil-dong' on July 3 and unveil the blueprint for the project.

The project site covers a total area of 81,000 square meters in the 1411 Singil-dong area. The study, to be conducted by Ansan Urban Corporation, aims to develop the site into a residential apartment complex.

The study will include a basic plan and feasibility review covering the following: creating a pleasant residential complex, identifying and introducing public services, improving access roads to the site, expanding transportation infrastructure, providing eco-friendly smart services, and revitalizing the local economy. It will also explore ways to strengthen connectivity with surrounding areas such as industrial complexes.

This area is located south of Singil Oncheon Station, which serves Seoul Subway Line 4 and the Suin-Bundang Line. In particular, it is a prime location bordered to the north and south by the Seo-Ansan Interchange on the Yeongdong Expressway and the Nam-Ansan Interchange on the Pyeongtaek-Siheung Expressway.

However, the area has remained undeveloped and overgrown with weeds, in stark contrast to the southern part of the site, which is densely packed with row houses and multi-family residences.

The delay in development began when hot spring water was discovered in the area in 1993. The city purchased 56,000 square meters of land from Korea Water Resources Corporation for hot spring development, but in December 2000, the Board of Audit and Inspection ordered the city to halt the project and instead develop a residential complex, effectively stopping the hot spring development project. Since then, legal disputes with petitioners over hot spring development rights have kept the land vacant for more than 30 years.

The city plans to enhance the quality of the project by incorporating feedback from relevant departments and citizens, based on the initial concepts and project direction presented at the kick-off briefing session.

Lee Min-geun, Mayor of Ansan City, stated, "We will pursue a successful urban development project that meets citizens' expectations and secures new growth engines for the city by creating synergies with surrounding areas."
