Changwon Community Child Center Association and Four Municipal Daycare Centers
Donate 3,000 Items Including School Supplies and Daily Necessities
On June 30, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that, together with the local Community Child Center Association and four municipal daycare centers, it had donated goods to the Changwon International Education Cooperation Center in Cambodia to support children and residents of Samdat Poan Village in Takeo Province, Cambodia.
This year, approximately 370 people?including children, students, parents, and teachers from the Changwon Municipal Gaeum, Gapo, Marine Aesiang, and Yongji Daycare Centers, together with the Changwon Community Child Center Association?participated by donating 3,000 items of hope-sharing goods such as clothing, school supplies, toys, and daily necessities.
The donated items will be shipped to Cambodia over the course of about a month and, in August, will be distributed to children at the Changwon International Education Cooperation Center in Cambodia and local residents through a bazaar held in cooperation with the international development NGO Global Sharing Community.
The 'Changwon RCE Cambodia Goods Donation Project' is part of an official development assistance initiative that began in 2015, following the establishment of the Changwon International Education Cooperation Center in Takeo Province, Cambodia, by Changwon City in 2013 to promote education for sustainable development. After practicing sharing through education, the project has continued with local bazaars in Cambodia.
Choi Jeongkyu, Director of Lifelong Education, said, "I would like to thank the local Community Child Centers and daycare centers for participating in the donation of goods with warm hearts for the children and residents of the Changwon International Education Cooperation Center in Cambodia." He added, "As the chair city of the International Association of Educating Cities (IAEC), we will take the lead in addressing educational inequality and realizing social values, and will continue our efforts to practice lifelong education for sustainable development."
