The Gyeonggi-do city bus public management system is divided into two types: public support type and route bidding type. Among these, the route bidding type selects transportation operators for routes based on the evaluation results of proposals submitted through competitive bidding.
To reflect regional transportation demand and strengthen the public nature of bus operations, a total of 20 routes have been submitted to the Corporation for bidding. By city and county, these include: 1 route in Goyang (Haengsin Station to Kintex Emart), 2 routes in Gimpo (Hillstate River City 2nd Complex to Gimpo Airport Station, Castle & Familier to Gimpo Airport Station), 2 routes in Namyangju (Chasan-ri to Hanyang Hospital), 1 route in Bucheon (Bucheon Okgil Electric Vehicle Charging Station to Yeokgok Station and Yeokgok South Market), 5 routes in Anseong (Yangseong Terminal to Wongok O2 Grande, Unggyo-ri to Jungbok-ri, Ayang District to Ayang District, Anseong Medical Center to Anseong Medical Center), 2 routes in Yangju (Hoeamsaji Museum to Deokgye Station, Kyungdong University to Yangju Station), 3 routes in Icheon (Icheon Terminal to Haewol-ri, Icheon Station to Hyeonbang-ri, Gamgok Janghowon Station to Icheon Terminal), and 4 routes in Hwaseong (Dongtan Garage to Dongtan Park, Gyeonggi Express Garage to Eoullim Park, Byeongjeom Complex Town to Sangsin 3-ri and Hanyang Sujain).
Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation received and evaluated proposals from transportation operators who applied for the route bidding, which was announced on its website from March 31 to April 14. The final transportation operators were confirmed through negotiations among the selected operators, the respective city or county, and the Corporation.
The Corporation completed negotiations with transportation operators for 51 city bus public management system route bidding type routes in Gyeonggi-do through three rounds of bidding procedures from the first half of 2024 to the first half of this year. Throughout this process, the Corporation worked to enhance transparency in the public management system by selecting operators through fair procedures in accordance with the Gyeonggi-do city bus public management system route bidding guidelines.
Min Kyungseon, President of Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, stated, "We have selected transportation operators through fair procedures by utilizing the expertise gained from conducting three rounds of Gyeonggi-do city bus public management system route bidding," and added, "We will strive to enhance residents' satisfaction with transportation services while also working to reduce the public management system budget for Gyeonggi-do and its cities and counties."
