To mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, a giant Taegeukgi flag was unfurled on Dokdo, Republic of Korea.

On the 30th, Professor Seo Kyungduk of Sungshin Women's University announced on his Facebook page, "To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, I held a performance with 80 citizens, unfurling a Taegeukgi flag measuring 30 meters wide and 20 meters long at the Dongdo dock on Dokdo."

Professor Seo Kyungduk, who has continued efforts to promote awareness of Dokdo, organized this event in collaboration with the travel technology research institute Tourista as part of the "Republic of Korea History Tour - Dokdo Edition." The Taegeukgi flag was produced with funds collected by the participants, adding special significance to the event.

Professor Seo stated, "Now, all that remains is the 'giant Taegeukgi drone show' to be held in the skies above Dokdo," and added, "We will produce the drone show itself as a multilingual video to promote Dokdo to the world, and we will continue to carry out 'global cultural content campaigns' on Dokdo in the future."

Meanwhile, Professor Seo served as the inaugural principal of the Dokdo School at the Independence Hall of Korea in 2013. He has also taken the lead in defending sovereignty over Dokdo by consistently placing advertisements in major global media outlets such as The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. He has worked to raise awareness of Dokdo by producing and promoting a series of videos featuring Dokdo symbols such as the sea lion, Sapsal dog, Dokdo shrimp, and Sedum takesimense.

Professor Seo is also widely known as a 'Korea promotion expert.' Beginning with the founding of the "Survival Competition" Korea promotion club in 1994 during his university years, he has led the movement to promote accurate information about Korea for 31 years. In particular, regarding Dokdo, he has served as an ambassador for the Dokdo Love Movement Headquarters, the East Sea Regional Coast Guard, and the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation Content Promotion Agency, creating a variety of content to promote Dokdo both domestically and internationally.

In recognition of these achievements, Professor Seo was appointed as an honorary ambassador for Ulleung County on the 29th. Ulleung County Governor Nam Han-kwon stated, "Professor Seo is the right person for this role, as he has demonstrated deep affection and understanding for Dokdo and Ulleungdo through his ongoing promotional activities. Through his appointment as honorary ambassador, we expect to further promote the beautiful nature, pristine environment, and symbolic significance of Dokdo's protection to the world."
