Gangnam-gu, Seoul has finalized its first supplementary budget for 2025, allocating a total of 70.5 billion won to initiatives focused on the local economy, safety management, childbirth and childcare, and the expansion of leisure facilities, all aimed at directly benefiting residents.
This supplementary budget increases the total by 70.5 billion won compared to the original budget, with 65.8 billion won allocated to the general account and 4.7 billion won to the special account. To support regional economic recovery and stabilize daily life, the district will invest a total of 23.2 billion won in various initiatives, including 12.5 billion won for small and medium-sized enterprise development fund loans, 5.1 billion won for issuing mobile local gift certificates, 4.1 billion won for transportation subsidies for seniors and others, 300 million won for employment incentives for small business owners, and 300 million won for facility improvements in hygiene-related businesses.
A budget of 14.8 billion won has also been allocated to address abnormal weather events and ensure resident safety. Major projects include 3 billion won for road and road facility maintenance, 2.5 billion won for sewer facility repairs and rainwater inlet improvements, 1.8 billion won for sewer dredging, 1.5 billion won for winter snow removal, and 400 million won for installing CCTV cameras in parks to prevent crime.
Support for childbirth and childcare, as well as the expansion of leisure facilities, are also key pillars of this supplementary budget. The budget includes 2 billion won for childbirth and childcare support, 1.6 billion won for maternal and newborn health management, 1.6 billion won for the second phase of the Gangnam Healing Forest project, 1.3 billion won for the redevelopment of children's parks, 700 million won for operating riverside cultural rest areas, and 500 million won for strengthening the functions of comprehensive social welfare centers, among other welfare and leisure space projects.
Additionally, Gangnam-gu has allocated funds for proactive measures for the future, including 300 million won for establishing an implementation plan for the Gangnam 10-Minute City Project and 55 million won for research on analyzing changes in welfare facility demand and strategic redistribution.
Gangnam-gu Mayor Cho Sungmyung stated, "Amid uncertain domestic and international conditions, we have focused the budget on reducing residents' economic burdens and addressing essential needs in daily life. We will execute this supplementary budget efficiently to provide tangible support for residents and to serve as a stable foundation for the local community."
