80th Anniversary of Liberation Day: Daegu Veterans Office Holds 'Independence Memorial Road' Tour of Independence Movement Sites

Commemorating Local Independence Activists
in Daegu's Modern Alley with iMBank's Support

The Daegu Regional Office of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Director Kim Jongsul) held the 'Independence Memorial Road' event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day and organized a historical exploration following in the footsteps of local independence activists.

The event took place on June 27 in the Modern Alley area of Jung-gu, Daegu, with descendants of independence patriots and families of veterans participating. Participants visited major sites of the independence movement in Daegu, such as the March 1st Movement Street, the former residence of Seo Sangdon, and the former residence of Lee Sanghwa, reflecting on the spirit of sacrifice of the patriotic forebears.


The event was sponsored by iMBank (President Hwang Byungwoo). Hwang Byungwoo, President of iMBank, said, "I pay my respects to those who devoted themselves to the independence of our country," and added, "We will continue to contribute to the spread of the culture of honoring patriots and veterans."


Kim Jongsul, Director of the Daegu Regional Office of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, said, "I am grateful to iMBank for making it possible to hold such an event in this meaningful year marking the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day," and added, "We will continue to realize 'living patriotism in everyday life' to improve the honor and welfare of veterans' families."


The Daegu Regional Office of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs plans to continue offering various field experience programs that allow people to reflect on the historical significance of the local independence movement.
