Hospital Director and Surgeon Arrested Over "36-Week Fetus Abortion" Case... "Concern About Destruction of Evidence" Yonhap News

On June 27, Park Jungho, the judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, held a pretrial detention hearing for Yoon, the hospital director in his 80s, and Shim, the surgeon in his 60s, who are both facing murder and other charges. The judge issued arrest warrants the same day, stating, "There is concern about the destruction of evidence."

The court had previously denied arrest warrants for them in October last year. However, after additional investigation by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Criminal Investigation Unit, the warrants were recently re-requested and granted.

Yoon and others are accused of performing an abortion for a woman in her 20s, a YouTuber who sparked controversy after sharing her experience of undergoing an abortion at 36 weeks of pregnancy, resulting in the death of the fetus. Police believe the fetus died after being delivered outside the woman's body. Yoon is also charged with violating medical law for failing to install a CCTV camera inside the operating room.

In connection with this case, police have booked a total of nine people, including medical staff and brokers who arranged patients, and are continuing their investigation.
