A man in his twenties who acted as a drug courier by hiding drugs in residential neighborhoods and repeatedly defrauded acquaintances has been sentenced to prison.
According to the legal community on June 28, Lee Dongsik, the presiding judge of the 11th Criminal Division of the Seoul Northern District Court, sentenced Kim (26) to five years in prison on charges including violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (Narcotics), violation of the Narcotics Control Act, fraud, embezzlement, and theft.
Kim was accused of hiding 84 plastic zipper bags containing methamphetamine in a residential neighborhood in Jungnang-gu, Seoul at the end of September 2024, under the instructions of a manager via Telegram. He was also accused of hiding 31 plastic zipper bags containing ketamine in a residential neighborhood in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, and of storing ketamine at his own residence.
The court stated, "Despite being within the repeat offender period for fraud and other crimes, the defendant failed to show restraint and, following the instructions of a drug seller, collected and concealed portioned drugs at different locations. The severity of the crime is therefore significant."
