Acting Leader Kim Byungki Emphasizes Swift Passage of Supplementary Budget
Calls for Thorough Reinvestigation into Political Prosecutors' Fabricated Cases
Urges Judiciary to Deliver Justice in Insurrection Case Involving Yoon Sukyeol
Kim Byungki, acting leader and floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated, "The Democratic Party will take action to swiftly process the supplementary budget (extra budget) aimed at restoring the collapsed economy and revitalizing the people's livelihoods," adding, "At a time when the lives of the people are under threat, we cannot afford any further delay."
At the Supreme Council meeting of the Democratic Party held at the National Assembly in Yeouido on the 27th, Acting Leader Kim said, "We expect this supplementary budget, totaling 30.5 trillion won, to have an effective impact." He continued, "We will revive Korea's growth engine by promoting investment for economic revitalization and a virtuous economic cycle. Through revenue adjustments, we will address tax revenue shortfalls and pursue fiscal normalization."
Acting Leader Kim also strongly emphasized the need for a reinvestigation into the 'Ssangbangwool illegal remittance to North Korea' case involving President Lee Jaemyung. He said, "Chairman Bae Sangyoon, who fled overseas due to the related case, stated in a media interview that this incident had nothing to do with Governor Lee Jaemyung or Gyeonggi Province," adding, "This testimony proves that political prosecutors have fabricated nonexistent crimes to harass President Lee."
He went on to say, "The political prosecutors' fabricated case regarding illegal remittances to North Korea, which deceived the public and undermined judicial justice, must be thoroughly reinvestigated." He added, "Through the Political Prosecutors Truth Investigation Task Force (TF) launched today, we will uncover the truth and restore justice."
Regarding the court's rejection of the arrest warrant for former President Yoon Sukyeol requested by the special prosecutor for insurrection, he remarked, "From the decision to cancel the detention to the dismissal of the arrest warrant, this is already the fourth time the judiciary has sided with Yoon Sukyeol through questionable legal interpretations and preferential treatment." He added, "Such judicial misjudgments have given Yoon Sukyeol, the principal instigator of insurrection, both justification and confidence to refuse investigation."
Acting Leader Kim strongly asserted, "We urgently call for an unwavering investigation by the special prosecutor for insurrection and a just ruling by the judiciary that meets the expectations of the public."
