Jaeuk Jung, President of Hyundai Wia, an auto parts affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group, has stepped down from his position as CEO. Kwon Ohsung, Executive Director and Head of the Research and Development Support Division at Hyundai Motor Company, is reportedly set to be promoted as his successor.
According to industry sources on June 26, Jung announced his resignation to all employees via email on June 24. Jung had served as CEO since March 2021, leading Hyundai Wia for four years and four months.
He is recognized as an expert who has overseen Hyundai Motor Group's parts-related businesses for over 30 years, having held positions such as Head of Parts Development at Hyundai Motor, Head of Purchasing at Beijing Hyundai Motor Company, and Head of Purchasing at Hyundai Motor.
Jung is credited with expanding Hyundai Wia's business areas, which had previously focused mainly on engines and certain parts, into eco-friendly mobility sectors such as electric vehicle thermal management systems.
Kwon Ohsung, who currently serves as Head of the Research and Development Support Division at Hyundai Motor Company, has reportedly been nominated as Jung's successor. Kwon graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in mechanical design, joined Hyundai Motor Company, and has held roles including Senior Research Engineer (Team Leader), Head of Steering System Development, and Head of the Mid- and Large-sized Vehicle (MLV) Test Center, establishing himself as an expert in research and development.
